Unless you haven't gotten a manicure in over 20 years or haven't opened a fashion magazine for that matter, you've heard of OPI. OPI was founded in 1981, originally only sold to beauty professionals and high-end salons. OPI stood far ahead of other beauty products from the beginning by placing batch numbers as well as the ingredients on all of its products.

Safety and product quality are two things most beauty products at that time didn't have much concern for, but OPI made them priority. In Spring of 2006, OPI removed DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from all nail lacquers it manufactured. Continued health safety caused for the removal of toluene from their polishes in January 2007. OPI nail lacquer does not contain formaldehyde as an ingredient as well. This gained more success for the OPI polish, as now it was considered to be a safe and environmental friendly product.
