Always popular in the fall and throughout the winter, burgundy nail lacquers are perennial favorites. The hottest shades this autumn are the deepest, richest burgundies you can find. But a new favorite, dark brown, is emerging as one of the hottest trends and possibly a future classic.
These deep maroons and browns vary greatly in boldness, so try on several shades from this list to find your favorite.
For starters, Essie's After Sex is as sensual as it sounds. It is a deep red with a slight metallic shimmer. For a night out, Orly’s Glam, a glittery maroon, will give you that glamour feeling, but for a darker shimmer shade, try Orly’s Ever Burgundy.
Want a shade you’ll fall in love with? Try SpaRitual’s Epicurean, a luxurious metallic-maroon shade from their Earth Low Notes Collection, and it will surely become one of your favorites.
For deep, crème wine shades, try Essie’s Bordeaux or OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, a deep brown-burgundy from their India Collection.
Ready to go even bolder? Essie’s berry hard or Orly's Naughty, both blackberry shades, will get plenty of attention. The OPI Russian Collection also goes over to the dark side with Suzi Says Da!, a dark chocolate-burgundy, and Midnight in Moscow, a bold burgundy with a slight glimmer.
Coming in late August 2008, OPI will also release their new La Collection De Paris. Look for Bastille My Heart, a rich burgundy sure to become a classic, and Eiffel for This Color, a dark wine shimmer shade. Essie's new fall 2008 shade, Lacy Not Racy, provides a more vintage-burgundy look.
They’re alluring, dark, and delicious. Deep, rich browns are the trend color this fall, and these delectable shades won’t disappoint. Spa Ritual's Earthy Low Notes Collection captivates with Death By Chocolate, a smooth milk chocolate, The Giving Tree, a nutty, dark chocolate, and I Feel The Earth Move, the darkest black chocolate. For a metallic-brown, try their Can you Dig It.
Essie also competes with their Decadent Diva, a deep bronze-brown, Downtown Brown, a chocolate cherry shade, and Chocolate Kisses, a dark chocolate cherry yummy enough to eat. If you are looking for a brown without any red tones, Espresso Your Style, from the OPI Deliciously Dark Collection, is a deep chocolate fudge without a hint of cherry. Again, in August, look for the OPI La Collection De Paris releases of I'm Fondue of You, a milk chocolate shade, and We'll Always Have Paris, a romantic dark coffee-and-eggplant shade.
Think you can’t pull off dark maroons and browns with your pale skin? If you are fair-skinned, go for the richer shade. Most fair-skinned women think they should go for a lighter shade, but that will only wash out your fingers and toes, especially lighter, frosted shades. Darker shades pop on pale skin, so go for it! If you have a darker complexion, most nail polishes will complement your skin, so take a risk and try something new this fall.
Ready to try, but want to sample first? Try OPI lacquers against your skin tone on their interactive color studio site.
