Many skin care problems present differently in skin of color than in white skin. With variances in aging, scaring, sensitivity and acne, ethnic skin was not being treated correctly. Dr Susan Taylor, an experienced dermatologist and leading expert on skin of color, realized this need and developed a skin care regimen, Rx for Brown Skin.
Rx for Brown Skin is scientifically designed to benefit the many concerns that become present in ethnic skin. This skin care program does not contain irritating ingredients. It is free of fragrance, lanolin, and dye. Dr Taylor designed a complex known as the Bright Skin Complex, a blend of three ingredients: Soy, Hyaluronic acid, and Pomegranate.
- Soy helps rid skin of pigment problems. It can help reduce dark marks, hyperpigmentation, and prevent sun damage. It also helps manage moisture in the skin, being able to help maintain oil production, replenish moisture and restore moisture loss.
- Hyaluronic acid is a natural hydrator that is found in human skin. It helps to stop the dry and ashy look. Hyaluronic acid will help smooth the skin, creating a more radiant look.
- Pomegranate helps restore balance to the skin and decrease inflammation. Inflammation is one of the main causes to hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and dark marks.
Rx for Brown Skin has three skin care programs, plus extra products to benefit specific skin care problems.
Bright and Even
Bright and Even Collection will help exfoliate to shed dead skin cells in a gentle way. It will help create more even toned skin that is smooth and free of dark marks and spots. It works well for skin that is uneven, mature, or has hyperpigmentation. Bright and Even Collection consist of cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer, and an Eye cream for dark circles.
Bright and Clear
Bright and Clear Collection helps prevent and treat acne plus control oil. It works gently without causing drying and irritation like a majority of acne skin care programs. It is formulated for acne prone, oily, combination or problem skin. Bright and Clear Collection consist of Cleanser, Toner, and Moisturizer.
Bright and Healthy
Bright and Healthy Collection is the most gentle skin care routine. It is designed to hydrate, nurture, and protect brown skin. It works for people with normal, dry, or sensitive skin. Bright and Healthy Collection consist of the Ultra Gentle Cleanser, Ultra Gentle Toner, and Moisturizer.
Special Prescriptions
For dark marks and uneven skin tone, extra products can be used within the appropriate skin care collection. These products are: Protect and Defend Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 15 (protect from skin damage), Naturally Flawless Advanced Botanical Brightener (brightens and evens skin tone), and Absolute Radiance Intensive Exfoliating Serum (reduces dark marks within 30 days), and the Virtual Peel Ultra Gentle Mask and Booster (exfoliates and smoothes skin without chemicals).
There are plans for developing future products to help enhance dark skin tones. Some to look for will be hair care and a larger body care collection. A men’s skin care line is currently being created. Rx for Brown skin would also like to get more into the cosmetic part of beauty by adding foundations and concealers.
Later this year a spot lightener and acne spot treatment will be launched followed by a buttock cream to help with texture, firming, and pigmentation. In 2010, an anti-aging facial night cream will be introduced.
