Fair skin is a challenge to keep young looking, but with self-care, including nutrition, exercise and sleep, it's possible, at very little cost.

As one ages, signs show on the facial skin first: creases under the eyes, lines around the mouth, wrinkles on the lips if one is a smoker and an overall thinness of texture, as well as dark circles below the eyes. If one is fair, the skin is more prone to showing early signs of aging, especially if one's hair is also light and one's facial skin is freckled.

Genetics play a huge role in how quickly one ages and what signs of aging appear most dramatically. However, there are several things one can do to slow and even prevent certain signs of aging without resorting to expensive creams or plastic surgery.

Hydrating for Beautiful Skin

Drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day is beneficial both for one's overall health and for the youthfulness of one's skin. Fair skin can easily become dull looking. Consuming water and other hydrating beverages enables the skin to stay brighter and fresher longer.

Nutrition for Young Skin

A healthy diet is vitally important for the functioning of the entire body. Eating many fruits and vegetables is crucial, especially the green leafy kind like spinach or bok choy. Proteins like lean turkey or soy beans also help rejuvenate the skin. Any foods high in Vitamins A, C, D or E are powerful antioxidents that purify toxins in the skin that lead to premature aging. Taking a daily multi-vitamin is also recommended.

Sleep to Nourish Skin

Getting at least 8 hours sleep a night will help skin stay younger longer. Without rest, dark bags develop under the eyes and the skin becomes rough and tired looking. Sleep enables the body to regenerate cells, including important facial ones.

Exercise to Keep Skin Healthy

When one works out using cardio or weights, the skin can rejuvenate. Pores plump up with perspiration and expel poisons that make skin wrinked and discoloured. When the skin is flushed with exertion, it has the rosy glow of youthfulness to it. Additionally, exercise is healthy for the entire physique.

Fair Skin Care

Many women of fair complexion spend too much money on trying to keep their skin youthful. In fact, a gentle cleansing is best with a soap that has no chemicals or alcohol in it, followed by a non-perfumed moisturizer with sunscreen in it. Fair skin is especially likely to burn and thus show the effects of the sun's aging properties. Twice a week, use a facial scrub or mask to get rid of old skin cells. Splash the face with cold water to give it a bright and youthful look.

Skin Damaging Activities to Avoid

Especially if one is fair skinned, stay out of the sun when it's at its peak hours of heat. Don't ever smoke as this increases the likelihood of thinned skin and lip wrinkles. Try to limit alcohol consumption as this habit dries out the skin. Diminish stress to lessen the chance of creases forming on the forehead and between the eyes. Massage skin to relax. Youthful skin is about both one's mental and physical states.
